1666: Amsterdam Platforms

Short version: PC only on August 25, 2026. Consoles are confirmed as a plan, not as a date. Everything below is checked against the official Steam listing and the studio's own statements — last verified .

PlatformStatusDetail
PC — Steam Available Aug 25, 2026 Early Access. Store listing is app 3949550.
PC — Epic Games Store Available Aug 25, 2026 Launches alongside Steam. The free Prologue is on both storefronts.
PlayStation 5 Confirmed, no date Panache has said console versions follow Early Access. No release date has been announced by the studio.
Xbox Series X|S Confirmed, no date Same position as PS5 — acknowledged, undated.
Nintendo Switch 2 No announcement Searched often, but the studio has never listed it. Treat any date you see as invented.
macOS / Linux Not supported The Steam listing declares Windows only. Ray-tracing requirements make a Mac port unlikely.
Steam Deck Unverified No Valve compatibility rating yet. Mandatory hardware ray tracing makes this doubtful — see specs.

Why there is no console date

Early Access is the reason. Panache is shipping an unfinished game to PC deliberately, to develop it in public. Console certification does not work that way — you generally ship a finished build. So the console versions wait for the PC build to finish, and "when Early Access ends" is not a date anyone has committed to.

You will find aggregator sites listing a 2027 console release. That number does not come from Panache. It is an inference from the Early Access window, and we are not going to repeat it as a fact.

The Xbox footnote

Reporting from Stephen Totilo indicates the project was originally set to be Xbox-published before Microsoft cut the funding. That history is worth knowing precisely because it cuts against the intuition that Xbox would get preferential treatment — the relationship ended before this version of the game existed. See the project's full background for how it got from a cancelled Ubisoft title to here.

Can you play it on Steam Deck?

Unverified, and the honest answer is probably not well. The game requires hardware ray tracing with no software fallback, and lists an RTX 2060 Super as the floor. The Deck's hardware is a long way from that. No Valve compatibility rating had been issued at the time of writing. If one appears, this page will carry it with the date.

What you can play for free right now

The Prologue is free on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, and it is the only way to test your hardware before buying. It is a separate free entry, not a demo build of the paid game.
