What is 1666: Amsterdam?
1666: Amsterdam is a dark story-led action-adventure by Panache Digital Games, the studio Patrice Désilets founded after creating Assassin's Creed — a lineage that explains why this game keeps getting compared to the series he left behind. It enters Steam Early Access on August 25, 2026 on PC only; no console version has been dated. You play Noa, the Collector, investigating 17th-century Amsterdam by day and hunting demons wearing human faces by night — a cycle the game says turns once every 333 years. A free Prologue has been on Steam since June and is the only part anyone has played so far, which is worth knowing before you read anyone's "full game walkthrough". Two things catch people out at launch: the game requires a ray-tracing GPU with no fallback, and Panache has disclosed generative AI use on the Steam listing.
